Leitner-Poma of America selected to build chairlifts at New Wasatch Peaks Ranch private ski experience in Utah

Daren Cole, President of Leitner-Poma of America (LPOA), announced that the company has been selected to build the chairlifts at the new Wasatch Peaks Ranch, a private ski community which is scheduled to open for the 2021-2022 season. LPOA has been contracted to build the first two of nine lifts to service the mountain’s more than 3,000 acres of terrain. Phase one construction is scheduled to start spring 2021 with two lifts ready for operation in December.

“We are honored to be working with the team at Wasatch Peaks Ranch to help make their vision come to life,” said Cole. “We developed a custom plan for the chairlifts to ensure the uphill amenities are in line with the elevated guest experience at this new community. The plan ranges from lift alignment and capacity to state-of-the-art comforts and conveniences members will enjoy such as heated seats and bubbles to warm skiers and snowboarders throughout the season.”

Wasatch Peaks Ranch is located in Morgan County, Utah just 37 miles northeast of Salt Lake City on the backside of the Wasatch Range. The private community will offer more than 3,000 skiable acres of terrain with one of the longest vertical drops in the west at 3,600 feet. The mountain boasts over 400 inches of snowfall a year. Skiers and snowboarders will have access to pristine, groomed terrain along with natural, untracked peaks and chutes for an intermediate and advanced experience.

The initial two lifts that LPOA is building in 2021 provide access to 1,650 acres of the overall ski experience; approximately 55 percent of the skiable terrain. The first lift is a high-speed quad lift that will take skiers and snowboarders out of the base area and is more than 8,000 feet long providing access to most of the ski mountain and its intermediate and expert terrain. The second lift also is a high-speed quad that will provide access to the ridge for amazing views of the surrounding area and expert open bowl terrain. Both lifts currently are planned as heated, bubble chair lifts.

“We selected LPOA to build our chairlifts not only because of their excellent track record and years of industry experience, but also because they were willing to work with us to design and customize a lift experience that mirrors the luxury guest experience that our members will have,” said Bob Wheaton, president and chief executive officer of Wasatch Peaks Ranch. “This included everything from technical specifications to thoughtful applications like selecting triple and quad lifts to provide more space for our members as well as identifying comforts such as heated seats and bubbles.”

Approximately 75 to 85 percent of the parts for the Wasatch Peaks Ranch lifts are made in the United States at LPOA’s North American headquarters based in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Wasatch Peaks Ranch is a year-round member-focused development featuring custom homesites, townhomes, condominiums and large ranchettes backing up to unspoiled wilderness. In addition to the community’s more than 3,000 acres of private skiing, members will have access to a planned Tom Fazio designed golf course, nearly two miles of access along the Weber River, a sporting clays course and miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking.
