New Topping Creek Base Lodge to open for 22/23 winter

RED Mountain: NEW TOPPING CREEK BASE LODGE

As a destination resort, RED Mountain, B.C. attracts guests year after year because of its unmatched terrain and laidback vibe. Well, now RED has a new destination on-hill to share that vibe: the not-yet-named, 90-person capacity base lodge station adjacent to our newest chair, Topping Creek.

Set to open Winter 22/23, this custom-built beauty will boast full food & beverage service, a full liquor license, and delicious offerings from breakfast through après. With indoor seating and outdoor deck seating, we are confident that all our guests and locals will find the perfect spot for the perfect reboot.

“We didn’t want to duplicate the base lodge feel or even create a kind of mid-mountain Rafters,” explains RED CEO Howard Katkov. “For this, we wanted a modern ‘surprise and delight’ quality to the building. We wanted to stir feelings a bit like popping off your skis in front of Paradise Lodge for the first time…that feeling of welcomed arrival.”

The modern designed facility approach is indeed welcoming and a perfect fit, setting guests up with beautiful views of the Red and Granite peaks. Aside from a new spot to enjoy a mid-day pint and eclectic food menu while being surrounded by the glory of the Kootenays, the Topping Creek Chairlift will also now include a remote kiosk for advance online lift ticket purchase pickup, allowing our guests the option to start their day at Topping Creek.

To keep RED’s fun roots alive and well, The Taco Rojo food truck that once graced the base of Grey Mountain will be built into the new base structure, fully rebranded. We listen to our guests and locals and many of them say that RED does an excellent job of keeping the hill’s deep traditions alive while modernizing the adventure for savvy mountain travelers. The new hangout at Topping Creek continues this tradition.
