Mount St. Louis Moonstone announces another Doppelmayr D-Line 6-Pack!

Introducing the “ELFRIEDE HUTER XPRESS” for 2025/26 Season

Coldwater, ON – Mount St. Louis Moonstone (MSLM) is proud to announce the installation of a brand new Doppelmayr 6-CLD chairlift, scheduled to debut for the 2025/26 winter season. This new high-speed 6-pack will replace two of the resort’s most storied lifts: the Poma Easy Street Triple and the BM Outback Quad.

The Poma Easy Street Triple, originally installed in 1969 as Canada’s first triple chairlift, was relocated to the Moonstone base and renamed in 1991. The BM Outback Quad, introduced as the Turkey Shoot Quad in 1987, was moved and rebranded in 1997. These lifts have carried generations of skiers and snowboarders and hold a cherished place in MSLM’s history.

“We’re saying goodbye to two legendary lifts,” said Robert Huter, General Manager of MSLM, “but we’re thrilled to be writing the next chapter in our commitment to delivering the best lift infrastructure in Eastern Canada.”

This new Doppelmayr 6-CLD, MSLM’s second D-Line lift, will significantly increase uphill capacity moving up to 3,000 people per hour. The chairlift will feature a direct drive electric motor, heated seats, ergonomic design, manual lock child friendly safety bars with footrests and rise-able loading carpet for young skiers and riders—all hallmarks of comfort, safety, and speed. While incorporating state-of-the-art technology, the lift maintains a conventional design with fixed towers and a focus on rider experience and ease of use.

To support this major upgrade, MSLM will undertake 100,000 metres of earthworks, including a 5-metre (28-foot) elevation increase to the mountain itself—further enhancing the guest experience by optimizing the top and bottom terminals for better flow and accessibility.

The lift’s installation marks another milestone in MSLM’s multi-decade commitment to excellence in snowmaking, grooming, terrain design, and guest service. “Our goal is to stay ahead of the curve, investing where it matters most—on the slopes,” said Operations Director Andre Huter. “This new lift is not just about speed, it’s about guest experience, comfort, and continuing to build on the legacy of innovation that’s been our family’s foundation since 1964.”

As a tribute to the heart and soul of Mount St. Louis Moonstone, the new lift will be named The Elfriede Huter Xpress, in honour of Elfriede Huter (pronounced ELLE-free-DA). Elfriede’s strength, warmth, and quiet determination helped build the resort from humble beginnings into the iconic destination it is today. Robert Huter explains, “Our family is already calling it by her nickname “Elfie”! It's a nickname that was coined by our dad Josl, he’d lovingly tease her as she buzzed around the resort, making sure everything was just right. It just makes sense that this new lift will carry her name—and her legacy—up the mountain. Without Elfie, MSLM wouldn’t be what it is today.”
