MND: The Four-Season Tourism Project in Chimgan, Uzbekistan Enters Its Final Phase

At the mountain resort of Chimgan in Uzbekistan, the four-season transformation is taking shape. Two years after the launch of this large-scale project entrusted to the French industrial group MND, the construction site is now entering a decisive phase aimed at creating one of Central Asia’s first international year-round mountain leisure destinations.

A Large-Scale Project with Exceptional Logistics

All studies and permits have been approved, and more than two-thirds of the equipment has already been produced and is being transported to Uzbekistan. Out of approximately 300 logistics convoys required for the project, nearly 200 have already left the group’s factories in Savoy, with a gradual ramp-up continuing through spring.

Work has continued throughout the winter despite demanding weather conditions, confirming the strategic importance of this state project and the ongoing commitment of the teams on site.

Key Infrastructure Under Construction

Several major milestones have been reached in the past quarter:
  • The detachable 10-person ORIZON™ gondola (C1): line equipment and cable are already on site, while the stations and cabins will leave MND’s workshops in the coming weeks. The lift is scheduled to open in autumn.
  • Two chairlifts: installation of towers and stations is progressing, with line equipment being installed step by step, and completion planned before summer.
  • 14 O’BellX avalanche control systems are being installed.
  • A rail toboggan, two zip lines, an adventure tower, and a tubing area: transport and assembly of four-season leisure infrastructure are underway.
  • The automated snowmaking system, including 80 snow lances and 14 fan snow guns, will be completed this summer. Waterproofing of the reservoir, whose earthworks are finished, will take place in spring.
A Collective Effort Across the Group

The site currently employs around 100 people, with numbers expected to increase to nearly 200 employees and partners in the coming months, in line with the project’s operational phases.

The project mobilizes all four of MND’s business units—ROPEWAYS, SNOW, SAFETY, and LEISURE—as well as its subsidiary MBS, responsible in particular for signage and slope safety equipment. It fully illustrates MND’s integrated model: a single partner to design, manufacture, and install complete, sustainable, and high-performance infrastructure.

Designed, manufactured, and assembled in France, in the group’s Savoy workshops, the equipment is then transported and installed on site, showcasing French industrial expertise in support of a sustainable, innovative, and structuring tourism project in Central Asia.

Target: 2026

By the end of 2026, all facilities in the resort area are expected to be delivered and operational. Construction of the future C2 cable car will begin this year, with commissioning planned for 2027. This lift will connect the valley to the higher-altitude areas of the site, reaching up to 3,300 meters.

Ahead of the international mountain development trade show Mountain Planet, held in Grenoble (April 21–23), Chimgan is positioning itself as a major example of responsible mountain tourism development. It serves as a showcase of MND’s expertise in designing and building modern, year-round mountain resorts that integrate sustainably into their environment.
