Mountain Planet 2026: A strategic edition at the heart of tomorrows mountain challenges

Grenoble (France), – The international mountain development trade show, Mountain Planet, concluded after three days of intense exchanges, confirming more than ever its role as the leading international event for mountain development professionals. The exhibition brought together public decision-makers, industrial leaders, and operators in Grenoble.

This 2026 edition highlighted the major transformations within the sector: technological innovations, the energy transition, and the diversification of tourism models. These themes were at the core of the debates, conferences, and business meetings that defined the event. Mountain Planet 2026 recorded very strong results, driven by a +4.5% increase in visitor numbers.

Strong political mobilization around the Industry

The significant presence of the State and local authorities confirmed the attention paid to mountain territories. The exhibition was inaugurated by Marina Ferrari, Minister of Sports, Youth, and Community Life. Key highlights included interventions by Michel Fournier, Minister Delegate for Rural Affairs, on natural risk management, and Gaël Le Bourgeois, Ministerial Delegate for Accessibility, who discussed mountain accessibility.

Fabrice Pannekoucke, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, was present to reaffirm the region's support for this key economic sector. He officially launched the "Tremplin 2030" label for companies in preparation for the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The presence of Edgar Grospiron, President of the Organizing Committee for the French Alps 2030 Games, also marked a high point of the event.

With 399 million skier-days worldwide, the 2024/25 season becomes the best of the early 21st century
During the conference dedicated to market dynamics, Laurent Vanat reviewed the global performance of skiing, with 399 million skier-days recorded. This high level confirms the attractiveness and desirability of the activity, despite climatic and economic uncertainties. However, he noted strong regional disparities; while some destinations have returned to pre-crisis levels, others remain fragile.

Course set for the French Alps 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games

Three and a half years before the deadline, Mountain Planet established itself as a laboratory for the Olympic Games: infrastructure, mobility, accessibility, guest services, and legacy were at the heart of the discussions. The shared ambition is to make this event a model for sustainable and innovative Games.
The CITY CABLE CAR SOLUTIONS (3CS) congress: A French premiere for urban cable transport
Among the highlights of the show, the 3CS event on urban cable mobility featured international experts and transport authorities from Île-de-France and Toulouse, who operate the "Câble C1" and "Téléo" lines respectively. They highlighted how these new lines transform daily commutes: bright, quiet, and uncrowded cabins significantly reduce commute stress and improve overall travel satisfaction.

An exhibition confirming its role as the industry’s pulse

Beyond the excellent attendance figures, this 2026 edition confirms the vitality and adaptability of a sector in full evolution. Mountain Planet once again played its role as a catalyst, gathering the entire ecosystem around a shared vision for the mountains of tomorrow.

In Grenoble, one certainty emerged: faced with challenges, the mountain industry does not simply endure; it organizes itself through a sector that invents a future that is increasingly responsible, diversified, and resilient.
The next edition of Mountain Planet will be held in Grenoble from April 11 to 13, 2028.
