Mt. Bachelor: Northwest Chairlift Modernization Project UpdateMt. Bachelor officially begun construction and modernization work on the Northwest chairlift! This project is part of a major infrastructure investment focused on improving the lift’s reliability, employee workspaces, operational efficiency, and accessibility during and following storm cycles. The project will upgrade the lift’s utility power as well as replace the electric motor, auxiliary power unit, and all interior equipment while preserving the existing foundations, towers, haul rope, terminals, and chairs. When completed, the lift’s operating system will mirror Skyliner, achieving modern technological industry standards. Northwest Chairlift Modernization Project “These upgrades are going to make a huge difference for our guests and operations teams,” said Dustin Smith, Mt. Bachelor’s Director of Mountain Operations. “We’re wrapping up routine maintenance this spring and will work throughout summer and fall to get everything wrapped up prior to the 2026/27 season.” May has already been busy for our operations teams. “We updated utility power to the bottom of Northwest, providing increased voltage and power supply to that area of the mountain” continued Smith. “We’re also replacing the bull wheel bearings, removing the park rail, and performing terminal alignments this month.” Once complete, the Northwest chairlift modernization project will improve long-term lift performance and reliability, enhancing access to some of our most beloved and unique expert terrain. Work on these exciting improvements throughout the summer.
