TechnoAlpin: State of the art snowmaking for Nyrsko

To ensure optimum snow conditions for winter operations along the 2.5 km of available trails, snowmaking was planned from the outset. A reliable snow production system was considered essential for Nýrsko, especially as the city will host the cross-country skiing events of the 12th Winter Children and Youth Olympic Games in January 2027, organized by the Plzeň Region.

Following a careful review process, the city awarded TechnoAlpin the contract for the design, engineering, equipment supply, and construction supervision of the project. The challenges of this turnkey project lay both in the need to preserve the existing inline skating trail, used during the summer, throughout the construction phase, and in a very tight schedule. The snowmaking system had to be completed and commissioned by Christmas 2025 to allow enough time to produce snow for the test events scheduled for February 2026, ahead of the 2027 Winter Children and Youth Olympic Games.

At the heart of this modest yet powerful and efficient snowmaking system is a containerized “Plug & Play” pumping station designed by TechnoAlpin. It uses a 15 l/s feed pump drawing water from the local river. The pumping station supplies water to 10 snow pits, all equipped for mobile fan guns, distributed along 1,300 meters of high-quality Alpinal water pipes. To ensure the snow production, 4 TechnoAlpin TR9 mobile fan guns will be utilized. The mobile version is particularly suitable for this project. The TR9 boasts a highly efficient snow output, under all weather conditions, and is very easy to handle and move around, from one snow pit to the other.
