Canada West Ski Areas Association: CWSAA ASM Division meeting and NSAA Lift Safety Boot Camp

Over 100 delegates attended the CWSAA ASM Division meeting and NSAA Lift Safety Boot Camp at Winsport in Calgary.

ASM Division Chair Kim Locke presided over 1 ½ days of information sharing including Duty of Care by Kim Jones, an innovative Pre-Mortem presentation by Sunshine’s Courtney McQuarrie, new safety campaigns and information from CSC, CWSAA, & NSAA, and Winsport's Jesse Werner, reports from regulators, Miles Davidson LLP, Rick Cowburn, TIAA, CWSAA committees, Selkirk College, and innovative insights from instructor organisation partners.  Complementing the ASM meeting, was the first presentation of the NSAA’s Lift Safety Boot Camp at CWSAA by guest presenter Mike Lane, NSAA’s Director of Technical Services.  The course provided in-class and in-field practical learning on safety strategies for lifts.  A delegation of ski area leaders spent a second day with Mike in a ‘train the trainer’ session, that will in turn share this material to delegates at CWSAA meetings later this fall, in the 2026 spring conference, and beyond.  CWSAA expresses its great appreciation to NSAA and Mike Lane for the leadership and generosity toward industry training and advancement.  The Canada's Sports Hall of Fame at Winsport was a wonderfully special venue with exceptional food service.
