Petzl Professional: Annual Ski Area Safety Summit

Petzl recently hosted the third annual Ski Area Safety Summit, a special training event that focuses on elevating the rescue and work-at-height procedures for ski area professionals. This 3-day summit was led by industry experts, including Petzl Technical Institute staff, trainers from our Petzl Technical Partner network (Ropeworks, Peak Rescue), and staff from Vail Resorts and NSAA.

The hands-on workshops at Brighton Resort and Petzl Technical Institute focused on common scenarios that ski area professionals encounter, including tower safety, work chair safety, chairlift evacuation, confined space rescue, and more. A mix of ski patrollers, lift maintenance personnel, rescue technicians, and building maintenance personnel were in attendance, representing 23 ski areas from 10 states. 

The shared goal for attendees was to highlight work-at-height and rescue best practices as well as share some insights for improving compliance with ski area safety standards. We want to thank the following individuals for their help with another successful Ski Area Safety Summit:
