TechnoAlpin: Livigno gears up for the Winter OlympicsWhen the world’s top snowboarders and freestyle athletes take to the start in Livigno, TechnoAlpin works behind the scenes to ensure optimal conditions. Preparations are in full swing, with a snowmaking system under construction that is set to establish new standards. At the core of the system is a new reservoir with a capacity of 210,000 m³ – one of the largest in Italy. It is complemented by two powerful machine rooms, which together pump up to 369 liters of water per second. Some 74 new snowmaking points are being built along the slopes. The project represents an investment of 5.8 million euros. At 2,530 meters elevation, the venue presents particular challenges: The short snow-free window obligates precise planning and efficient implementation. At the same time, alongside the snowmaking system, other major projects are underway – including a new lift system, a parking garage with around 500 spaces, and various competition venues such as a halfpipe, ski and snowboard cross, slopestyle, and parallel giant slalom courses. The project is a logistical masterpiece for TechnoAlpin. A 10-strong team from project management, purchasing, logistics and sales is working hand in hand to prepare Livigno in time for the Olympic events. With this system, Livigno will not only be a venue for top sporting performances, but also an example of state-of-the-art snowmaking technology – developed and implemented by TechnoAlpin.
