Bachler Top Track: Increasing the efficiency of the snowmaking industry

The snowmaking industry is often criticized for the fact that the energy consumption for technical snowmaking is very high. A lot has been invested in further development and increased efficiency in recent years.

As a focused snow-lance specialist, Bachler have consistently focused on energy efficiency since the first in-house development in 2000. At that time, the VANESSA snow lance achieved an Energy-Snow-Ratio (ESR) of 0.71 kWh/m3 at a wet bulb temperature of -4°C (35 bar water pressure and on-board compressor with 7.5 kW). The SnoTek TRIDUSA, launched in 2017, increased efficiency 6.5-times to an ESR value of 0.11 kWh/m3 (at -4°C FCT, 35 bar water pressure and on-board compressor with 4 kW). In larger systems with a central compressed air supply, the ESR value can be improved by a further 30-50%.
